Bilingual Writer (English and French)

Reporting to the communication project manager, the holder of this position will have the responsibility of ensuring the quality and relevance of the content of the communication tools of the organization. The Writer will coordinate the work of outside contractors, write and revise texts and communications tools, and coordinate the development of Équiterre’s English website.

Main responsibilities

• Oversee the translation and its upload on the organization’s English website;
• Write and revise the institutional communication tools of the organization (annual report and newsletter);
• Ensure the relevance and quality of the information published daily on Équiterre’s website, in French and English;
• Revise all of the organization‘s communication tools, in French and English;
• Recruit, train, coordinate (coaching and support) and supervise the outside contractors and volunteers under his/her responsibility;
• Participate in the community outreach activities of Équiterre;
• All other related tasks.

Requirements

• At least 3-5 years of experience in an editing or communications position;
• University-level training, preferably in copywriting, editing or communications;
• Experience in translation (asset);
• Experience in web animation (asset);
• Impeccable written English;
• Good level of French writing;
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently, to take initiative, and to apply good judgment;
• Strong critical and analytical skills;
• Excellent writing and communication skills;
• Proficiency with MS Office software;
• Genuine interest in the mission of Équiterre and familiarity with its priority issues.

Conditions

• Position starting in the summer of 2010.
• 3-day, possibly 4-day work week; i.e., 24 or 32 hours per week distributed over 3 or 4 days; minimum of 3 weeks of vacation in addition to 2 weeks off during the year-end holidays.
• Salary to be determined according to experience and education.
