Death of a great man: Equiterre offers its condolences to the relatives of Jack Layton

Published on

Equiterre is deeply saddened by the death of Mr. Jack Layton, who showed courage and determination until the end. We send our sincere condolences to Mr. Layton's relatives, and to all Canadians, who have lost, this morning, a great defender of human rights and the environment. "I am deeply moved by this sad news and wish to pay tribute to this man who has made significant contributions to Canadian society," says Sidney Ribaux, cofounder and executive director of Equiterre.

"I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Layton for many years and I always saw his real commitment to improving society. A long-time activist, he had been involved for many years in the fight against climate change. Today we have lost a great man. It was pleasure to have worked with him," laments Steven Guilbeault, cofounder and deputy executive director of Equiterre.
