In order to co-create social innovation at a time when the ‘social contract’ is being renegotiated, many civil society organizations are taking on a mediating role and in so doing are instrumental in redefining the roles and responsibilities of the State towards its citizens.
This panel sheds light on the experience of civil society mediators in forging innovative partnerships:
- across formal and informal sectors in the global South
- across grassroots advocacy groups and university-based researchers in Quebec
- across the virtual world through networks connecting civil society groups
Panelists will include speakers from:
- the Coady International Institute
- the Public Interest Registry in Washington DC
- Banco Palmas in Brazil
- Equiterre, Quebec
Questions to be discussed will include:
- lessons learned from successful mediating roles
- the source of ideas for innovation
- the importance of shared values in partnerships
- the role of technical innovation in facilitating partnership
