TransCanada, the company behind the controversial Keystone XL project, announced on August 1 that it would proceed with its Energy East Pipeline project. The company plans to convert an existing pipeline to carry oil from Alberta to Ontario, and to build a new pipeline from Cornwall, Ontario to Saint John, New Brunswick. The project would bring 1.1 million barrels of oil per day through nine regions of Quebec. Some of the oil would come from the tar sands.

TransCanada is holding a series of information sessions this fall. Please go and ask lots of questions!
