AN EXTENSIVE NETWORK FOR RUNNING ON QUEBEC-GENERATED ENERGY

Electric vehicle charging stations are now part of the Quebec landscape. With over 600 public charging stations, EV drivers can travel anxiety free. The Electric Circuit, powered by Hydro-Québec, is the most extensive system of public charging stations in Canada, with over 400 stations operating in 15 regions of Quebec.

FILL UP AT HOME, AT WORK, WHILE YOU’RE SHOPPING OR ENJOYING YOURSELF

Did you know that 80% of recharging is done at home (so long, gas station attendants!) or at work? With employers able to take advantage of provincial government funding to subsidize the purchase and installation of charging stations (just as individuals can for home charging stations), a growing number of employers are making stations available to their employees.

In 20% of cases, charging is done in public places, when motorists are doing their shopping or enjoying their leisure time. For example, some Rôtisseries St-Hubert restaurants (and soon all of them), some Metro supermarkets and some Rona hardware stores have installed charging stations for their customers to use.
“Electric vacations” are possible now, too: a number of SÉPAQ (Société des établissements de plein air du Québec) provincial parks and the Fairmont hotel chain are making charging stations available for their guests.

CHARGING STATION NETWORKS WITH ROSY FUTURES

In the near future, an increasing number of curbside charging stations will be added to the existing network, which is an especially interesting development for neighbourhoods where charging station access is a problem (near multiunit housing, for instance). In this regard, the 1,000 stations announced by the mayor of Montreal as infrastructure for the new fleet of self-service electric cars will be welcomed by the city’s EV drivers.

In addition, an extensive network of charging stations belonging to individuals is available to the EV community (see PlugShare). The savings that come from sharing also provide a range of benefits in the area of transport electrification.

OPTING FOR AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE – A CHOICE THAT MAKES SENSE

Access to a charging station is no longer a major obstacle to choosing an electric vehicle. If you really do need a car, then filling up at home, with clean, Quebec-produced energy lets you meet that need while having a positive impact. But, still, the most environmentally friendly and responsible solutions are to get around without a car or involve a combination of public transit, biking, walking and sharing (car sharing, car pooling), as we suggested in our transportation cocktail campaign.

Charging stations

Electric vehicle owners are always worried about their charging issues; therefore we have found that vehicle manufacturing organizations are now days establishing charging stations at different zones; which are quite beneficial for EV owners. Due to lack of charging station most of the EV owners are unable to get better charging service for their vehicle as a result they are suffering from vehicle breakdown issues.
