Eating local, even at "garderie"

A new pilot project, Croqu'Plaisir, is helping Centres de la petite enfance (CPE) in the Montérégie region of Quebec serve more local food to their young charges.

The project, which launched on March 25, seeks to foster healthy food environments for preschoolers attending daycare.

Equiterre is a proud partner of this project. We are reponsible for helping the participating early childhood centres buy local food. To this end, we have already recruited 15 CPEs representing 20 facilities that will be linked with a local supplier or producer this summer. The CPEs are:

  • CPE Abracadabra, Ste-Martine
  • CPE Bobino, Beauharnois
  • CPE Chez Fanfan, St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (two facilities)
  • CPE Chez Nous, Sheffort (two facilities)
  • CPE de Boucherville, Boucherville
  • CPE de Saint-Lambert, Saint-Lambert
  • CPE Kaléidoscope, Hinchinbrook
  • CPE L'univers des Petits Inc., St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (two facilities)
  • CPE La mère schtroumpf, St-Constant
  • CPE Le château des frimousses, Bedford
  • CPE Les frimousses du fort, Chamblu (two facilities)
  • CPE Ma Licorne, Longueuil
  • CPE Tam Tam, Châteauguay
  • CPE Tout doux, Brossard (two facilities)
  • CPE Les Frimousses de la Vallée, St-Denis-sur-Richelieu

This project is the result of a partnership between Equiterre, the Regroupement des CPE de la Montérégie (RCPEM), and the three Conférences régionales des élus de la Montérégie (CRÉ – Montérégie Est, agglomération de Longueuil and Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent).
