Pesticides undermining children's health, says new report

Published on

Pesticide Action Network North America has conducted a new review of the recent literature on the impact of pesticide use on children's health.

According to the report, the existing research suggests that:

  • There is a link between pesticide use and the increase in childhood rates of autism, attention deficit disorder and hyperactivity disorder.
  • There is strong evidence of a link between pesticides and certain health outcomes, including certain childhood cancers.
  • Pesticides may contribute to childhood asthma, obesity and diabetes.
  • Even very low levels of exposure to pesticides can cause health harms, especially at certain times of life, e.g., in the womb and during early childhood.
