A new Leger Marketing poll confirms that there is widespread support in Quebec for the fight against climate change.

Eighty percent of respondents want their province to be a North American – or even world – climate leader.

As for how to achieve this goal, respondents indicated the following priorities:

  • producing renewable energy (62%)
  • investing in energy efficiency (60%)
  • developing dedicated lanes for carpooling and public transit (53%)
  • changing how we design our communities (45%)

For its part, the Charest government launced a public consultation on climate change, which will be held online until February 27, 2012.
