Actu - Journée mondiale environnement

Thursday, June 5, in honour of UN World Environment Day, we are putting together a wish list for the environment. But we need your help! What are your wishes? Send them to us today. The best wishes will be added to a wish list here on our website.

To participate, send us your wish(es) – as well as your name and municipality, if desired – by noon on Wednesday, June 4 at communications@equiterre.org.

Looking for inspiration?

We can tell you that the UN has designated 2014 the International Year of Small Islands and Developing States (SIDS), and that this year's World Environment Day is devoted to SIDS and climate change.

Also, here are some of our wishes. We wish for:

  • A stop to development in the tar sands.
  • A reduction in the use of synthetic pesticides.
  • More local food in government-run food services.

"Planet Earth is our shared island, let us join forces to protect it," UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon declared at the launch of the 2014 International Year of Small Islands and Developing States. Also according to the World Environment Day website, "the call this year is to recognize that we all face the same challenges and are connected and united by our common goal of a sustainable and prosperous life for all on this planet."

The World Environment Day spokespeople, Gisele Bündchen, Don Cheadle, Ian Somerhalder and Yaya Touré invite you to take action by joining their teams:

  • Fight for Team Gisele and reduce your foodprint
  • Get on board with Team Don and Power Down
  • Connect with Ian to go greener
  • Play with Team Yaya and purge plastics

If you are inspired to take action, you can register your activity online. But first, send us your wish.
