With degrees in anthropology and English literature under her belt, our volunteer of eclectic interests is currently pursuing a religious studies certificate at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Actively involved in the community, Mélanie is also working on a housing project for people with disabilities. Having a disability herself, she is particularly sensitive to environmental and social causes.
Mélanie is a remarkable volunteer, always calm and resilient, no matter what! She may have difficulties getting around, but always manages to go about her various daily activities. We are very proud to have her on the Équiterre team, constantly furthering the organization’s social mission.
Mélanie’s love of nature brought her to Équiterre four years ago, and she has been welcoming visitors and answering the phone on Wednesdays ever since. She’s also responsible for updating the fair-trade directory and takes care of various other tasks required for day-to-day operations.
Mélanie believes that if we all take small concrete actions, we can protect our environment every day. As a volunteer for Équiterre, she feels she’s contributing and is part of a wonderful family.
When asked what she likes most at Équiterre, her immediate reply was, “The team! I’ve volunteered in other places, but here I feel part of the team and we share the same values!”
Thank you, Mélanie, for your continued support—and for just being there!
