Of all the daily activities we engage in, eating is the one that has the greatest impact on our environment, our health and our society.
The Soup’s On! educational kit was designed to offer tools to help children, their educators and their teachers make sustainable food choices by opting for healthy, local and organic products that support local farmers.
Objectives
The activities proposed in the kit are aimed at:
- raising children’s awareness of the importance of eating healthy, local foods and educating them on the impact of their food choices;
- enriching young people’s connection to local foods and local farms;
- providing tools that encourage the adoption of lifestyle habits that are healthy, good for the environment and supportive of the local economy.
Who can use this kit?
Developed for educators and teachers, this multi-disciplinary kit offers activities and tools for children in primary and secondary schools. It allows them to explore healthy, local and organic food using a dynamic and age-appropriate approach. Each section proposes original and stimulating activities that encourage participation and discovery. Several educational tools are also available to post information in your establishment or to allow a more in-depth exploration of food-related issues.
This project has been made possible through the support of the Fonds d’action québécois pour le développement durable and its financial partner the Government of Quebec, with funding from the Conseil pour le développement de l’agriculture du Québec, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
