Béatrice Dagenais
Advisor, Sustainable Food Procurement
After graduating in 2016 from McGill University with a Bachelor of science degree in Dietetics, with her nutritionist license in hand, Béatrice realized she wanted to work in public health. That's why she went on to complete a Master's degree in Nutrition at the Université de Montréal in 2020. Her research project involved analyzing the feasibility of adopting sustainable food practices in the menus of Quebec healthcare institutions, with a view to writing a master's thesis.
Following her studies, she wrote an article in the Canadian Journal of Dietetic Practice and Research and an article in the journal of the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec. Subsequently, she had the opportunity to continue working with the Sustainable Menus team from 2019 to 2021, as a trainer and project manager for the integration of the Sustainable Menus Guide into the food services of healthcare institutions in Quebec. At the same time (2019), she became a lecturer in the Department of Nutrition at the Université de Montréal, a position she still holds today.
In 2021, her contract as a trainer was coming to an end when she received an email announcing an available position in Équiterre's sustainable food procurement team. As she read the job description, she realized that it really was a match for the Master's degree she had completed: it was as if the job had been created for her. So she joined the Équiterre team as a Sustainable Food Procurement Advisor in May 2021.
